Crash first steps
Collect the facts and protect transportation before details disappear.
Use this when: A student, friend, or family member is in a crash and needs the practical next steps organized.
First move
If anyone is hurt or in danger, call 911 first. After safety, collect photos and insurance information.
Do first
- Move to safety if possible and call emergency services for injury, danger, or blocked traffic.
- Exchange names, phone numbers, licenses, insurance cards, plates, and vehicle details.
- Write the timeline while it is fresh, including passengers, witnesses, road conditions, and ride needs.
Save as proof
- Photos of vehicles, plates, damage, location, road conditions, signs, and traffic controls.
- Police report number, insurance claim number, tow receipt, repair estimate, and rental or ride receipts.
- Messages with the other driver, insurance, school, employer, tow yard, and repair shop.
Log in when
- The student is the victim and needs the record organized before settlement talks.
- The student may be at fault and needs help reducing practical fallout.
- A ride, repair, tow, insurance, or loaner-car problem affects school or work.
